American Serbs


Serbs contribute the development of the United States in many ways. We chose a couple of Serbs from thousands of exceptional individuals who have work and make big effort to make Serbs proud and America great and developed country.

Serbs or Serbian origin Americans was always in all areas, here is a short list of significant Serbs in American history. Also mention that only King who was buried in America is a Serbian.

Mihajlo Pupin Idvorski was a scientist, inventor, a professor at the University of Colombia, holder of the Yugoslav medals white eagle the first order and honorary consul of Serbia in the United States.

 

 

Peter Press "Pete" Maravich June 22, 1947 January 5, 1988

 

   
Peter Press "Pete" Maravich was a basketball player.
After graduating from LSU in 1970, Maravich was the third selection in the first round of that year's NBA player draft and made league history when he signed a $1.6 million contract — one of the highest salaries at the time.

 

 

Mitchell Paige (August 31, 1918–November 15, 2003)

 

   
Mithel Paige was the winner of the medal of honor from the Second World War.

 

 

Rose Ann Vuich was the first female ever elected to the State Senate in California. A freeway is named in her honor in Fresno, California.

 

   

 

 

Lance Peter Sijan (April 13, 1942 – January 22, 1968)

 

   
Lens Sijan was America army officer and fighter pilot. He was awarded medal cast, the United States' highest military award, for his courage.

King Peter II, First borni son of King Alexander I and Queen Mary, was born in Belgrade 6 September 1923. Baptism was godfather to his English king George VI.

 

 

 


Dragoljub "Drazha" Mihailovich - (April 26, 1893 - July 17, 1946)


 

   
(Драгољуб Дража Михаиловић, also Čiča, Draža Mihailović or Mihajlović), was a Serbian general who became a war hero in World War I and who later led the Chetniks during World War II. US president Harry S. Truman posthumously awarded him the "Legion of Merit" for the rescue of 500 American Airmen by Chetniks during World War II.
